The Historical Bevers House On Brick Street

The spacious Bevers House was built by Spence Bevers. Mr. Bevers was an early contractor who built the home for his family. Mr. Iron Pearsey, who helped build the house said of Mr. Bevers, "if he saw one board with a knot in it, he would throw it out". Over the years, several families have owned this property. Abe and Ruby Turner acquired the house in 1964 from Dr. R. A. Middleton, a local physician. The Turners remodeled it extensively with all modern conveniences, yet retained the essence of yesteryear. The home is full of Colonial American antiques that have been collected throughout the years. The picturesque backyard features a swimming pool and a hot tub complemented by outdoor antique memorablilia.
